What's it worth to you? With the never ending uncertainty in todays cost of living landscape there has never been a better time to truly commit to supporting local. Its not always easy to do this, I understand...Sometime we have no choice but to shop in stores or online through non-Canadian channels. But even a lot of these places will have "Product of Canada' and/or locally grown goods.

Some tips to help grow your local economy!

  • Check out local markets.

  • Take your Sunday drive to a new level and tour the country side for farm stands.

  • Search for "Product of Canada" on labels (know the difference here)

  • Support your circles "side hustles" - We all have friends and family members creating avenues to get by these days.

  • When shopping for food (other then local farmers markets) check for the CFIA (Canadian food inspection agency) Maple leaf symbol. This signifies that most or all ingredients , labour , production happen within Canada.

  • Look for Canadian Alternatives to popular brands.

  • You can use apps such as "Shop Canadian" or "Maple Scan" - these apps in google play store help identity what products are made in Canada by scanning the bar code.

Some of the best reasons to shop local and support your friends, family and neighbors...

  • Stimulate local economics

  • Reduce your carbon footprint

  • Access to fresher and better quality food

  • Better customer service

  • Create more local jobs

  • By Shopping and Supporting you are giving back to your community.

  • Nurture innovation and growth

Many of our local small business and services are the ones who support our kids sports teams, fix our vehicles, support our school fundraisers, give our kids their first job, sponsor local public gardens, beaches and parks.

Afterall, our local small businesses and services also live in our communities and want to see them thrive.
